GLOBAL: New Bosch dishwasher line maintains silence

The new line is engineered for the virtually silent performance, which is part of the Bosch reputation in the United States, features a third rack on more models and also a European design, according to the Appliance magazine. GLOBAL: Cooking motivation for young Kiwis

By Virin Gomber The New Zealand Nutrition Foundation’s (NZNF) annual campaign, Food Week, kicked off for a third year this week, aiming to build confidence in the kitchen and teaching Kiwis that cooking at home can be affordable and delicious. This year, the spotlight is on young Kiwis who are increasingly becoming kitchen strangers, the Foundation said. GLOBAL: Surge in US appliance shipments

By Virin Gomber Growing demand for major home appliances resulted in a 9.2% growth in April in the US shipments of appliances from manufacturers, continuing to draw momentum from an improving housing sector and better consumer confidence. According to the figures released recently by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM), a Washington trade group, shipments of major appliances like dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, ranges and ovens rose to 2.8 million units in April from 2.6 million units in April 2012. AHAM’s so-called ‘Big Six’ appliance categories expanded by 5.8% in March and 7.8% in February. GLOBAL: Indesit first quarter revenue down

By Virin Gomber As first quarter sales dropped for the Italian-based Appliance maker Indesit, it announced plans to enter the small domestic appliances market. The company said its revenues for the first quarter of 2013 were EUR 597.7 million (approx. US$770 million), down 3.8% from EUR 621.5 million in the first quarter of 2012, according to the Appliance magazine. While operating profit in 1Q 2013 was EUR 13.9 million, down 33.2% from 1Q 2012′s EUR 20.9 million, the group’s net result in the quarter was a profit of EUR 4.1 million, down -62.2% from 1Q 2012′s profit of EUR 10.7.
