A new study released today by LG has found that Australian households are wasting, on average, between $500 and $1,000 a year as a result of cluttered, disorganised fridges.
The research is one of the first to investigate Australians fridge habits and behaviours and has been released in conjunction with the launch of LG’s new Door-in-Door French-door refrigerator in Sydney overnight.
17 million items are binned every week according to results from the survey of 1250 Australians.
45% wish their fridge was better organized and half admit they find it difficult to locate what they need, and 2 in 5 claiming they forget about items stored at the back.
In addition to the quick and easy access to frequently sought-after food items, the LG Door-In-Door minimises temperature loss for a more consistent fridge temperature as 58% of respondents said their refrigerator door is opened on average around 30 times a day.
“As our lives get busier we have less time to dedicate to mundane jobs like organising our fridges, and no-one would blame us. However it is costing us time and money in the long run. LG is focused on providing innovations that make people’s lives easier,” Fiona Irving, Corporate Marketing Manager, LG Australia said.
“The LG Door-in-Door is ideal for busy families, large households, and regular entertainers who want to optimise their fridge space. The specially designed unique panel makes it easy to place your most popular chilled items in the front door and store larger and less used items in a second fridge compartment at the back. There’s nothing else like it on the market.”
LG’s new Door-in-Door Fridge (GR-D907SL) is the largest gross volume capacity of a French Door format on the Australian market delivering 907 litres gross capacity – over 100 litres more than the largest French Door Fridge currently in the market.
Additionally, this large capacity model provides wide refrigerator access with an internal 832mm width – perfect for extra wide platters for entertaining.
It also ships with LG’s Slim Indoor Ice Maker that is built in the door, improving space efficiency resulting wide open shelf space in the refrigerator interior and retractable interior shelf to create space for taller items.
A new feature is LG’s wide temperature controlled pantry drawer that not only offers wide storage space for large food and platters but temperatures can be adjusted between -1C0 for meats, 1C0 for deli items or 3C0 for vegetables.
In addition, the three-layered freezer organisation provides well spaced and easy to access storage drawers in the freezer for better use of the interior area.
The new LG Door-in-Door refrigerator range will launch between September and November 2012.
The hero GR-D907SL 907Ltr French Door Fridge will have a RRP of $4,599.
The launch will be supported by an national multi-channel communication campaign, featuring LG’s brand ambassador Georgie Parker.
